Summer Programs @ Post Secondary Institutions Since the economy is the way it is, most programs may not have as many slots for programming as in the past.  I have attached a list of summer programs at post secondary institutions in and out of the area plus two other opportunities that your students may take advantage of this coming summer.  If you have any specific questions about any of the programs on the list please contact the contact persons or visit the website listed. Scholarship Announcement - Harrisburg University of Science and Technology

Philadelphia, April 1, 2010 – Mayor Michael Nutter announced Harrisburg University of Science and Technology’s commitment to provide 20 new undergraduate full-tuition scholarships for Philadelphians over the next four years. Local News
StudentNet and the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) Thanks to all of you who participated or sent colleagues to attend the District’s learning session on StudentNet and the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) this past January. Convened in partnership with the Mayor's Office of Education, over 150 participants from community-based organizations and city agencies that serve youth came out to learn about these initiatives and how they can support them through their work with children and youth in Philadelphia.

On behalf of the Office of Counseling and Promotion Standards (OCPS), I am very pleased to announce the official launch of the District’s new website dedicated to providing public information about StudentNet and the ILP at:

http://philasd.org/offices/studentnet.

The site, which is part of the District’s website (www.philasd.org), is produced and managed by the OCPS. It provides information and resources you can use to help reinforce the work counselors and school staff are doing to engage students with StudentNet and to develop their own ILPs. The site includes FAQs and a “How You Can Help” section, outlining specific action steps that parents/guardians and city and community partners can take to support students.  Other resources include Power Points, fact sheets, flyers, the ILP Worksheet, a list of online textbooks, and the counselor directory so your staff can reach out directly and share the work they have been doing with the students served through your programs or agencies.

We hope you will bookmark this site and use it regularly to access information and resources about StudentNet and the ILP. Most importantly, we hope you will help spread the word among your colleagues, community partners, and the children and families with whom you engage. Your feedback on the site is also welcome, as we will work to continually improve it.
