Welcome to the Philadelphia College Prep Roundtable website. This community of pre-college program administrators, higher education professionals, and community leaders work together to provide its members with the most cutting edge tools, information and technologies to move students from high school to post-secondary education. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 3rd Annual Philadelphia College Prep Roundtable Forum will be a dynamic and engaging 2-day meeting focusing on the “student voice” and the new college access agenda the state of Pennsylvania will be embarking upon. In addition to the traditional enlightening sessions the meeting will have 2 major highlight presentations: “First Person" ( http://firstpersondocumentary.org/ ) unfolds through the eyes of six promising inner city Philadelphia teens. The film opens on the first day of 11th grade, as each student embarks on the most important year of high school. Over 90 minutes, First Person takes viewers inside the challenges of pursuing college while navigating the responsibilities of family, the pressures of the streets, and the absurdity of a school system that fails to graduate almost half its students. Students from the documentary will lead an interactive discussion the meaning of college access on their lives. We’ll discuss “are we really making college accessible for students and what do you they need”. We’ll also put together “guiding points” that should be embedded in organizations goals and objectives. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Forum Plenary Session Pennsylvania will embark on a statewide “college access” agenda.
